Liepnitzsee
This is a lovely and fairly flat 3.5 hour lake loop, fully accessible with public transport from Berlin via Wandlitzsee. The walk follows the shore of the super-clear Liepnitzsee for most of the way, offering v chill views across the water to the lakeβs central island, countless bathing spots that had me drooling for warmer climates, and a lunch stop to boot!
We started off at Wandlitzsee station and turned left at the lake, taking us the north route around the whole Liepnitzsee. At the far end of the lake thereβs a restaurant which looked pretty inviting, and which Iβve found a rare find on Berlin hikes (Iβve had to move my intake of fries to after most hikes rather than during, which might not be such a bad idea, nutritionally speaking). We ate our packed lunches at one of many picnic tables right on the water with glorious views, warming our cold fingers on hot tea. A bit further along we found a number of little (private) jetties that are all too inviting for a snack, a look down to the bottom of the lake (yep - itβs that clear) and surely maaaany cooling dips once summer rolls around the corner.
Iβd definitely recommend this loop for a mid-length day walk with little-to-no fussing over instructions or a map, so itβs ideal for a good old catchup with a friend or to let your thoughts wander. You can find the walk instructions on Komoot here and here are some snaps to give you a sneak peek. Enjoy!
