Say hi to the Fresh Air Outdoor Club
Dear friends,
As some of you may have noticed, the name of this blog has changed from Fresh Air Pink Cheeks to Fresh Air Outdoor Club. This is why.
My initial blog title focussed on a feeling: the feeling I get when spending time outside and the blood rushes to my cheeks as Iβm in the fresh cool air and exercising.
What I didnβt realise is that my expression of this sensation β specifically pink cheeks β excluded some of my BIPOC friends and community members. While friends and followers that know me personally also know that the logo is a character based on my appearance, the brand could also be read as an exclusively white experience of the outdoors.
So first and foremost I want to apologise for causing harm, and I want to fix the thing. Iβm so grateful to live in a time where Iβm held accountable for my actions, and Iβm learning how I can personally act more inclusively. And hence I am changing the name.
Since I started this blog, Iβve been so inspired to connect with other people on their own outdoor journeys, finding their own ways to enjoy spending time in nature. You guys have gone on epic hiking trips, bought backpacks and tents, walked routes shared here, swam in lakes and picnicked on your lunch breaks, and it just makes me so stoked to be part of this community. Instead of being a blog solely about my experiences, I want it inspire and motivate us all to experience the outdoors in whatever way we choose. So weβll be going forward as Fresh Air Outdoor Club! The next time you take a walk, go camping, ride your bike or are looking for advice on where to go hiking, tag #freshairoutdoorclub on Instagram to share your picture with the gang and connect with other outdoor lovers. Cause thatβs what itβs all about.
Thank you for all the support,
